A SAFARI/JOURNEY THROUGH THE USA - A DIARY - 5 - Springfield, MO

David and Janice Reynolds picked us up at the airport and hosted us in their home. They are the founders of “Builders for Christ in Brazil”. 15 chapels were built in Brazil during the past 9 years. They are planning to come with a team of builders to Kenya next June,2009 to built a chapel in Kiambu. Pray for these plans!

They took us to know Branson, a tourist place, with earlier Christmas decoration.(Nov 1st).

On Sunday they took us to preach at “Shepherd of the Hills Luth. Church”, in Kimberling City, MO. Pastor Richard Futrell and his wife Sheri welcomed us. We preached at both services and did a presentation at the Bible Class.

On the evening of that Sunday (Nov 2nd), Carl & Barbara Tiedt offered a reception for 50 people at their house. After the barbeque, I did a presentation about our work in Kenya and all were invited to help to sponsor the mission in Kenya.

Nov 5th began with a Bible Study during breakfast at 6 am for a men’s group.

After this David took me to Redeemer Luth. School, where I presented a PPS to the children at Chapel Hour.

Principal Paul Baker introduced me to the children.

– After this we went to Sherwood Elementary School, a public school where Janice works as counselor. Several classes came, one after the other, to the library, where I did presentations about the Children in Africa for all of them.

On Saturday, Nov 8th, we went to Redeemer Lutheran Church, where David and Janice are members. The pastors are Jeff Sippy, Duane Maas and Parvey.

There I was invited to perform the wedding of Julie Marie Reynolds, (David and Janice daughter) & Jason Allen Dickey.

The Bible text they chose for their wedding and for their lives comes from 1 Corinthians 1:10: “I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no division among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

On Sunday, Nov 9th, Carl and Barbara Tiedt took us to Faith Lutheran Church: Pastor Jason Shaw. I did presentation at the service and at the Bible Class. People had many questions about the mission and the situation in Kenya.

That day we ‘moved’ to the Tiedt’s house in Springfield. They are members of “Builders for Christ” too and they have been several times to Brazil with the builders’ team.

On Monday we had lunch with Pastor Sippy (Redeemer Luth. Church),who has been to Brazil twice with the Builder’s team. We shareed with him several challenges from Kenya.

On Tuesday we had a presentation at the Lutheran Student Center,

where Donna Rebmann is in charge.

The youth leader, Joseph, is planning to go to Kenya to work as volunteer with the children next year.

On Wednesday we went to Lowel, Arkansas, where we meet Rev. Donaldo Sonntag and his family at Living Savior Luth. Church. They are Brazilians and they prepared a very good Brazilian barbeque (churrasco) for us!

– On Friday (Nov 14th) we went to Elseville, where Frank and Erica hosted us for the weekend. Erica is Brazilian and a good friend from Porto Alegre, RS, the city from where we came in Brazil.
On the way to their house, they took us to visit Alley Spring, a fresh water font: something amazing!

The blue lake formed by fresh water is a Post Card!!!

The Deer Hunting Season (two weeks) had just begun, and we saw many hunters with the deer they hunted.

Pastor Marty Reed invited us to preach at the service on Sunday and to do a presentation at the Bible Study Hour at

Zion Lutheran Church, Poplar Bluff, MO.

We have been traveling for the past two months (Oct.+Nov.) and we have two more months to travel (Dec.+Jan.) before we are going back to Kenya for a second term of two years. Lidia and I thank all friends who are hosting us in their houses and who are taking us from one place to another for the services and presentations, we thank all congregations who are inviting us to preach and to do presentations, and we thank all who are giving us financial support to go back to Kenya to share there God’s Word and God’s love. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR LOVE! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
(The next Blog will give a report beginning from Kansas, where we spend Thanksgiving Day).

There are plenty of Branson attractions to check out while there! Did you get to go to any of them?
